The value of studio quality photography cannot be underestimated in properly representing your product. In the example above I looked at several auctions for carved, lighted cameo shells. None of them showed the piece illuminated. By taking the time and having the equipment capable of producing a warm time exposure we achieved a much higher value for this piece.

I have enjoyed photography as a hobby for my entire life. I most recently spent 5 years in Wyoming as a professional photographer. The images to the right are examples of my commercial work. Remember, your buyer is shopping in a two-dimensional world considering spending a substantial amount of money on something they can't touch. Showing them all aspects of your product - including any flaws - is essential to establishing bidder confidence. Just by creating an image in the context of an appropriate background lets them feel what the item will look like in their home.

In the example below I showed all sides of a simple miner's lamp. Similar items were auctioned with a snapshot on the kitchen table. By giving the buyer a 360 degree tour in a composite photo this item brought a higher auction price than comparable lamps in better condition.
